There can be no bigger or more momentous date in our quests for self than the day you make a decision to begin living for Christ and surrender your life to Him.

We always remember the moments that change and shape who we are as sportsmen. If you’re a deer hunter, you’ll always remember where you were when you killed your biggest buck. You remember the date and time, the weight and feel of the rifle, the weather and which direction the wind was blowing; you can recall every detail of that moment. If you spend countless hours in the marsh or salt flat poling for redfish, you will always recall the exact flat you were on when you finally convinced a tailing redfish to take that fly after countless number of back casts. You can recount the water depth, clarity and temperature, the fly rod, fly and reel used; again, every detail of that transformational moment can be played back in perfect and total recall.

Moments of transformation are touchpoints for our souls and waypoints for our journey in discovering our true identities, created in the precise image of God. There can be no bigger or more momentous date in our quests for self than the day you make a decision to begin living for Christ and surrender your life to Him. My “born on date” was December 11, 2010 and our first episode of Passion of Pursuit was loosely based on that event and defining how God sets a stage for those whom He draws near to Him.

We wanted to bring the viewer into our world of flooded timber duck hunting. The sights, smells and sounds that God created and used to reveal both himself his will for me. Did you catch that?? God actually created the flooded timber and all that goes on before, during and after that dark and beautifully magical pursuit to reveal himself! I know this because Romans 1:20 states that God can be clearly seen in the things He has created. So to those who say “How can you look at all of this and say there is no God?”… easy… You can’t, scripture says in fact that you have no excuse!

There are other verses that, I swear, had to be written by a duck hunter. Read Psalm 8:3-4 and tell me what you think. It says this… “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” So tell me that you’ve never leaned against a big tree and waited for shooting time, sipped a cup of coffee, looked up and thought that out of all of this, how and why does God even know or care that I exist.

Really all we wanted to do with our very first episode is make duck hunters stop and think about what is in front of and above them every single morning and realize that God set that exact stage to allow a drama to unfold. Genesis 1 proclaimed in and Romans 1 confirmed it…”In the beginning God created…” If you are willing to believe that, then maybe you’re willing to go a bit further to see what an amazing journey your creator has in store for you!
