Bourbon, MO. – 2018 marked the ninth annual Man Camp for Spring Hills Church of House Springs Missouri.

Held at the beautiful Camp Mihaska in Bourbon MO, the day and a half long retreat featured teaching from the Spring Hills Pastor David Stain and church Elders Paul Earhart and Leo Mooney. They were also joined by guest speaker Jim Richman.

Friday night kicked off with a steak dinner . The ice-breaker session was accented by a rustic fireplace, as men shared who the most spiritually influential people were in their lives and also shared pointed advice with the teens who were new comers to Man Camp.

Worship leader and Emcee Rob Stain led in a touching moment of remembrance for former Man Camp participants that have gone home to be the with Lord, and closed the session with a charge to consider the way we train ourselves as disciples.

Living a Legacy

The retreat theme dealt with Psalm 145 and the legacy men leave through their Christian life.

Pastor Stain opened Saturday morning with a clear overview of the Psalm 145 text. This session was followed by time for the men to interact with one another and discuss the presented content.

After lunch, the men were encouraged to participate in a bean bag toss or gaga-ball tournament.

All of this was capped off with a final session dealing with worship (Jim Richman), discipleship (Elder Paul Earhart), and Consistency in Christian Living (Elder Leo Mooney).

A Commitment to Men

This 9 year commitment to providing this retreat for the men of Spring Hills Church is proof of their commitment to disciple the men of their congregation. The longevity and consistency, even in the details of the camp location, have provided a place where men feel comfortable to share their inspirations and struggles. Events like Man Camp are a critical element to helping men “grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ…” (Ephesians 4:15).
